Describe the Area

Beautiful Brittany is a fascinating area of France with Celtic roots - in ways more similar to parts of the UK than France! The coastline is rugged and interspersed with lovely sandy coves, whilst inland regions reflect its agricultural character.
Brittany has four main regions: Côtes D’Armor is to the north with steep cliffs and attractive medieval towns.
Brittany, much like Ireland to the north, has a local, native dialect that is spoken in addition to the national French tongue. This Celtic Breton can even be found on bilingual street signs in certain parts of the peninsula. Indeed, remnants of the Celtic past – be it the folklore or the huge stonework structures and monoliths that spot the province – are beloved among the locals, and prized by the vacationers and tourists who come to experience the magic of Brittany.

In the middle of Brittany, set amidst the green and picturesque countryside of the Pays d'Argoat, lies the town of Callac with its market square, church, bars, restaurants, creperies and traditional gift shops. The lively Wednesday morning market attracts farmers, artisans and visitors from across the region and is an experience not to be missed. Callac is known as the "green place to holiday" and its main feature is Le Lac de la Vallée Verte, a magnificent lake surrounded by unspoiled woodlands.

Property Description

The Gites are situated in the tranquil countryside yet are just 3 minutes drive from the market town of Callac.

The Emperor Gite:

Large living room with exposed beams, stone wall and open stairs. English television, DVD and video. The separate kitchen area is equipped with fridge, cooker, grill, microwave, toaster, kettle and generous cupboard space. The bathroom is complete with shower cubicle, vanity unit and toilet. Each of the two bedrooms has exposed beams and a velux window. One bedroom has a double bed and feature wall, the second has two single beds.

The Monarch Gite:

Very open and spacious with a large living and dining area. There is a feature stone wall, original oak beams and a tiled floor. English television, DVD and video. The open plan kitchen is equipped with fridge, cooker, grill, microwave, toaster, kettle and ample cupboard space. The bathroom is complete with shower cubicle, vanity unit and toilet. Upstairs there are two bedrooms each with exposed beams and a velux window. One bedroom has a double bed and feature window, the other has two single beds.

Each gite can be rented individually but, as they are both interlinked by a door, they are ideal for booking together for the larger family or two families wanting to book together. Outsite there is a BBQ, Parking space, Secure parking , Shared garden, Shared outdoor swimming pool. The large garden is equipped with barbecue and garden furniture for your use. A play area with swings trampoline and garden games is available for children. We have an enclosed terraced pool area furnished with sun loungers. With a depth of 1.2m the pool is ideal for both younger childrenand adults.

The latest additions to our family are two Kune-kune pigs, Flash and his little sister Petal and our two mini goats, Milly and Tilly. They join Peanut the cockerel and our six chickens who lay wonderfully tasty eggs and, if they oblige, you can try them fresh for breakfast.All the animals are very friendly and great fun, children will love to see them playing and being fed.
